Taepyeongmu(태평무) Dance of the Kim Sunyoung artistic lineage
On Feb 28th, I went to see a dance concert hosted by Lee Sojung, the main dancer here in this video clip. She is a member of National Dance Company of Korea, and her performing Taepyeongmu Dance on the stage was breathtakingly great! That is why I decided to upload this video.
There are two artistic lineages of Taepyeongmu Dance: Kang Sunyoung and Han Youngsuk. The former one features very fancy outfits and a pair of long clothes to throw in the air. On the other hand, the latter one is relatively calm.
I think I only uploaded the Han Youngsuk ones so far, so this time I want you to enjoy another type Taepyeongmu Dance of the Kang Sunyoung artistic lineage... :)

Miss Korea Sung-hye Lee wore a beautiful Hanbok in Miss Universe 2012 National Costume Show. When I first saw it, I liked it because of its multilayered skirts and her fabulous Gache(Traditional Korean wig)... And the host Shanna Moakler seems to have liked the Korean Hanbok, too! Mudangchum(무당춤) means a traditional Korean shaman dance. Literally, it is danced by one or more Mudangs or traditional Korean shamans often in a trance state. The title of this performance is Manshin(만신), the background music of which is blended with some modern instrument sounds. The dancers look as if they were really in a trance state! Koreans should be proud of their heritage and do more to promote it in the younger generation. It's really sad to see how KPOP has normalized what Confucian tradition would have denounced as sexual indecency. I am not even Korean and I am welling up with emotions watching this.
